Course Overview

Course Overview
The course aims to Share a love and understanding of Gardening using environmentally friendly methods and to teach participants the skills needed to get the most out of their gardens throughout the year.
You will have an interest in gardening and gardens, and a willingness to learn, but no experience is necessary.
By the end of the course you should be able to perform a range of gardening tasks with confidence and skill.
Participants will also be guided in the safe use of a range of Information Communication Technologies (ICT) such as video conferencing software, email, online databases and information resources
Whether delivered online or face to face in a classroom, the classes are highly interactive with a relaxed, supportive, atmosphere where everyone is encouraged to participate. Teaching will be via illustrated talks and practical demonstrations, with opportunities to swap design ideas, gardening tips or even plants! Visits to interesting and inspirational gardens are normally undertaken every term - these will be virtual while Covid-19 restrictions remain in place.
You will be encouraged to keep records (e.g. photographs, plant lists) of your own garden and to monitor how it develops. This will help you to recognise your own progress and increase your confidence in your gardening skills and abilities.
Occasional quizzes and tasks will be set by the Tutor designed to reinforce your learning and to help you put your newly acquired skills and knowledge to use, where appropriate, within your own garden.
