Course Overview

Course Overview:
The main aspect of this course is to help students to speak Spanish with more confidence than
an absolute beginner. Students will learn to understand and give directions. Enquire about
departure and arrival times. Check details when buying tickets. Understand platform
announcements. Book hotels and restaurants, specifying requirements. You will learn how to use
past tenses to recount childhood memories and talk about past holidays. Basic elements of
Spanish grammar will be revised, and new ones will be introduced. As part of the course, you will
read a book for your level.
You will be listening to and speaking Spanish from the first day. Cultural aspects of the Spanishspeaking
world are introduced through class activities, online resources and by joining the book
club. The main aspect of each lesson is conversation practice.

What should I bring to the first lesson?

Pen, paper and a Spanish dictionary

Eligibility:

Those who are not currently in education, training or employment and are in receipt of state benefits or support (excluding state retirement pension). those aged 50 plus who are not in full-time employment.
