Course Overview

This is an entry level course for those with no prior knowledge of French or very rusty school French. Students will receive an introduction to the French language and culture, with an emphasis on acquiring basic conversational skills in particular. By the end of the course, learners will be able to express themselves in a variety of everyday situations such as meeting new people, ordering drinks and snacks in a café and shopping for food. You will also be able to read and understand basic French such as menus, signs and timetables. French 1 is taught in a small, friendly group giving you the opportunity to try out your French and practise in a supportive environment.

Talk French 1 ISBN 978-1406679007 available to buy in local bookshops or online. Includes textbook and 2 CDs for listening practice . A dictionary or translation app is useful.

What should I bring to the first lesson?

Pen, paper, change for refreshments. Don’t worry if you haven’t managed to buy Talk French 1 for the first lesson.

Eligibility:

Those who are not currently in education, training or employment and are in receipt of state benefits or support (excluding state retirement pension). those aged 50 plus who are not in full-time employment.
