Tutor Bio
Hi everyone! I'm Jason Hicks. I'm an artist and educator with a passion for creativity and personal expression! As a prop maker and Stop motion set builder I've been lucky enough to work on some really cool projects over the last 20 years including sculpting for Bad Wolfe’s Dark Materials, Prop Making for the BBC’s Dr Who and miniature set building for Wes Anderson’s ‘Isle of Dogs’. Recently I have enjoyed sharing my love of art with others in a variety of educational and community settings.
Description
Strictly 8 maximum.
In this session we will use basic woodworking skills to create simple animatable puppets.
The puppets are designed to introduce children to both stop motion and 2D hand drawn replacement techniques. The workshop will cover elements of sawing, drilling, glueing, hammering, nut & bolt assembly as well as hand drawn character design and cardboard cutouts. Each participant will take home a puppet that they will then be able to animate on any device.
