A guided "3D doodling” class introducing a variety of methods of working with “Air dry” clay, macrame, paint, natural materials (sticks, leaves, stones etc) and re-purposing old materials, fabric, buttons, screws etc (waste materials) to create experimental sculptures.
Guidelines and timed simple demos and tasks are given throughout each class, followed by ‘freestyle’ time where learner’s individual creativity and play will lead to a ‘finished’ piece.
Note: all pieces must be taken home after class as no storage is provided, so bring a sturdy box!
Simply an open mind and curiosity about exploring the creative process. No experience necessary.
Learners will have experienced various ways of sculpting and decorating that explore, utilise and express a personal approach to the creative process. Learners will be confident in creating, trying things out and thinking outside the box, and inevitably develop their own “style” that can be built on in future classes and courses, or indeed in their own time, own studios etc.
In the first half of the term, the tutor will give verbally guided instructions (and demos where appropriate) which are timed, themed and set to music for the first half of the session until break. After break, the group will develop these samples into a unified mini-sculpture. Group sharing, discussion and weekly relaxed sharing of creations at the end of each session.
During the second half of term, we will each create a “mood board”, and learners will be encouraged to work on their own individual projects inspired by these boards and lessons of the first half of term with one to one guidance, and share discoveries and progress as a group.
