This course has been designed as a second start for those learning French. Perhaps you have recently returned from a visit to France or you are planning a future holiday. You might just want to keep your brain active or you have recently completed a Beginners class. You may have a rusty GCSE or O’level that you want to bring up to scratch. If you have been learning French online and now want to put it into practice in a group situation, this is the course for you.
You will be comfortable with the basics such as how to introduce yourself, numbers 0-20, ordering food and drink or asking for directions. You are now ready to take your French to the next stage. We will expand the number of topics you are familiar with and the different situations you can manage.
You will learn to communicate in the past and future, as well as recapping the present.
The main emphasis is on communicating in French, using your French to get by, making yourself understood and understanding French speakers. You will have the opportunity to practise and try out your French in a small, friendly group with a patient, encouraging and supportive tutor.
We will use a variety of resources including audio material to improve your listening skills and authentic resources to develop reading skills. The emphasis is on speaking French, working in pairs, small groups and as a whole group with lots of repetition and practice. Although homework is not compulsory, it is useful to practise what you have learned in class. By the end of the course you should be able to get by in practical tourist situations.
