The first part of the class is taken up with general conversation. We talk about what you have done in the previous week and any upcoming plans you may have. You will confidently use a variety of tenses. You will be encouraged to ask questions, comment as well as describe your news. We also discuss current affairs and topics of general interest such as differences between French and British culture, recommended films, programmes, plays and books, favourite cuisine or gardening news. The conversation is led by the class.

The second half is more structured and based around French magazine articles and podcasts considering topics such as history, art, tourism, recipes, volunteering and Vietnam.
Different themes are covered each week. The course includes audio and video material, as well as reading matter of a journalistic nature. These are used as a springboard for discussions.
