The purpose of the Youth Visual Arts Course is to open up the world of creative making to all young people with a keen interest in the arts.
It is open to a wide range of ages and levels of ability. It offers the experience of exploration and inquiry with a broad scope of art mediums, styles and interests which reflect the learning group. This term will focus on contemporary art practice, with reference to current gallery exhibitions.
Students are supported and encouraged to find their own creative pathway and interpretations of the topics on offer. Their energy, enjoyment and curiosity are highly valued as the driving forces in the course, and fuel their creative journeys to self expression.
Listed below are the sessions proposed for this term. Although the lessons are linked, they are not necessarily going to run in this order. They are open to the needs and interests of the individual student. Comments and suggestions from all members of the group are always welcomed and encouraged. The scheme of work is discussed and approved by the students first. The term runs for 11 weeks, in 2 hour lessons on Wednesdays 6-8pm. All equipment and materials are provided. Although, a personal sketchbook and pencil case are useful. Sketchbooks and other materials may be purchased from the art shop at Llanover Hall.
