Bring a burst of summer colour into your home with a one-day workshop on hand-dyed textiles. You will be using four main techniques from the art of Ishi Shibori or Japanese hand-dyeing (Itajame, Kanoko, Bomaki and Kikki processes). Create a stunning sarong, scarf or textile panel as a keepsake or gift.
During the workshop will prepare a range of dye baths, learn about mordants and resist techniques on this enthralling day of experimentation and discovery.
Please note: the dyes may cause some discolouration of the hands, so rubber gloves are recommended. The textiles require a drying time and will need to be transported whilst still damp. It is recommended that each person has a few plastic carrier bags to take the work home.
Some cotton samples are provided. Additional materials are supplied at cost. In addition to carrier bags and rubber gloves which are essential; a small sewing kit and a few ideas for colour schemes would be useful, but not compulsory.
