In this class the student will learn how to:

1. How to cover a tall cake (dummy) with fondant
2. Use different techniques of painting on cake
3. How to transfer an image onto a cake
4. How to make stained glass effect on cake
5. How to paint with edible colours on cake
6. How to implement oil painting techniques on a cake
7. How to work with rice paper and colour rice paper
8. How to make a frosty technique on rice paper
9. How to make a fantasy magnolia flower out of rice paper

What should I bring to the first lesson?

What should I bring to the first lesson?
Equipment and materials:
1. 1 - 1.50kg white Fondant;
2. 50g gum paste ( flower paste/petal paste/Pasta bouquet)
3. 6’’ diameter – 6’’-8’’ high polystyrene dummy (or two 6’’dameter – 4’’high dummies stuck on top of each other with cocktail stick)
4. 8’’ cake board (drum);
5. 8’’ Cake box or container to transport your project home
6. Parchment/transfer paper; pencil; 4-6 tailor’s pins
7. Rolling pin (for rolling the fondant); Cake smoothers
8. Silicon mat / table protector to roll your fondant on
9. Dresden tool; scissors; scalpel or pizza cutter; florist wire cutting pliers; tweezers
10. Florist wires: 1x 20’’ & 24’’or 26’’; Florist tape – white
11. Edible dust colours – White; Pink -1-2 tones; Peach; Yellow; Light blue; 2 tones Green (leaf/moss/spring green); Black
12. Gel colours – Pink; Black
13. Painting Brushes – 2-3 flat brushes – different thickness – for dry painting (1 make up or fluffy brush); 2-3 oval brushes for painting on the cake (different thickness)
14. Cocoa butter; saucer (small porcelain plate); 1 tea cup; 1 plate (deaper – to soak paper in)
15. Non-stick frying pan (small)
16. Kitchen paper; towel; apron;
