Course Overview

This course will explore technical aspects of painting in water colour with a study of composition, colour, mixing practice and observation. This class will guide you through the steps of painting with watercolour and how to use your materials to respond to different subject matter, leading you to create several paintings and studies during the course. Subject matter will include still life, natural forms, flowers and landscape.

What should I bring to the first lesson?

Students to bring with them:
Watercolour paper approx. 300gsm weight
Board or cardboard to attach watercolour paper
Watercolour paints
Brushes – various sizes
Masking Fluid
Masking Tape
Pencils H, HB, 2B
Eraser
Mixing Palette
Water pot
Hair Dryer at hand to dry off paper
Tissue paper/toilet paper to lift out paint

Eligibility:

Those who are not currently in education, training or employment and are in receipt of state benefits or support (excluding state retirement pension). those aged 50 plus who are not in full-time employment.
