Course Overview

Course Overview
This is a Post Beginners course for those with a reasonable grounding in French . You may have a rusty GCSE or O level French or you have been following a French class for at least 2 years. Perhaps you have been working on your own using online material and now wish to practise what you have learned in a group situation. The course is designed within the level A2 of the European Framework.

The class starts with some general conversation and revision. The second part of the lesson is based around units 12-15 of Façon de Parler 1 covering the topics of daily routine including an explanation of reflexive verbs ( to wake up, get up, wash and dress), travel, directions, shopping ( including adjectives for colour and size) and health. We will recap direct object pronouns ( him, her, it, them) and learn about indirect object pronouns ( to him, to her, to it, to them).

We will develop your listening and speaking skills by taking part in pair and small group work. We will also listen to the audio material that accompanies the course book. You will read authentic material to expand your vocabulary, comprehension and reading skills. The emphasis is on oral communication, however you will complete some written grammar exercises to help with accuracy. We will recap the past tense to talk about what you have done recently. We will also learn the future tenses to talk about your plans.

The emphasis is on practising your French in a supportive, friendly and relaxed environment. By the end of the course, you will be able to get by in practical situations in France. Whether you are learning for interest, to keep your brain active or you are planning a visit to France or a French speaking country, this is the course for you. You will also have the opportunity to participate in the Cardiff Nantes Exchange.
