Course Overview

Course Overview
This course is aimed at students who have followed an Adult Education course for 3 years or who have been working independently and are now in a position to put their French into practice in a group situation. You are ready to develop your French from Beginners to Intermediate level. With a maximum of 15 students, there is ample opportunity to practise and develop your French in a friendly and supportive environment . The emphasis is on communicating in French with some grammatical explanations to develop your accuracy.
The class starts with some general conversation in small groups, talking about what you have done recently, your plans or general topics of interest. The second part is based on Façon de Parler 1 units 16-21 which cover the topics of travelling by car, moving house, health and daily routine ( including reflexive verbs in the present and past, to wake up, to get up, to wash). Each unit contains dialogues to listen to and develop into role plays. We will read authentic texts to improve your comprehension skills and expand your vocabulary.
We will recap past and future tenses. We will learn about direct object pronouns ( him, her, it , them) and indirect pronouns ( to him, to her, to it, to them). The emphasis is on speaking and understanding French. Some written exercises are completed for homework to reinforce class work.
There is the opportunity to take part in the Cardiff- Nantes Adult Exchange.
