Course Overview

Course Overview
This Course aims to: practise and develop your conversational skills. You will also read and listen to authentic material to expand your vocabulary, comprehension and reading skills. The emphasis is on oral competency. However, you will also complete some written homework tasks to improve accuracy and grammatical understanding. You will practise and develop your French in a supportive, friendly and relaxed environment, working in pairs and small groups, as well as whole class interaction.
Specific requirements: This is an Intermediate course, A2 on the Common European Framework Levels. You will already have a reasonable grounding in French with a rusty O’Level or GCSE. Perhaps you have followed a French course for 4 years or you have been working consistently on your own and you now wish to practise and develop your French in a group situation.
Course format: The class starts with some general conversation discussing your news, plans, general subjects that interest you or current affairs. You will be able to converse in the present, past and future tenses. We will recap these as necessary.
The second part of the lesson is based around the new textbook Édito A2 second edition. We have copies available for £26 or you can source your own copy. We will discuss our lives, our memories, housing and progress. This will include recapping the past and future tenses. Other grammar points such as comparisons and pronouns will also be covered. We will also discover other Francophone areas such as Senegal and Quebec. We will learn about cultural aspects of France and there is the opportunity to take part in the Cardiff Nantes Exchange.
By the end of the course, you will be able to deal with most situations likely to arise while travelling in a French speaking area. Whether you are learning French for general interest, to keep your brain active, you have just returned from a visit to a French speaking area or you are planning your next visit, this is the course for you
