Course Overview

Sashiko is a style of Japanese embroidery traditionally used for mending holes and reinforcing cloth. It is functional and decorative and has become popular as a way to upcycle clothing and nurture a sense of wellbeing through mindful craft. This workshop offers the space and inspiration to try your own Sashiko stitchwork. You're welcome to bring an item of clothing or create a sample using the fabric provided.
The Appliqué and Sashiko classes are designed to work independently or to flow one into the other if you'd like to attend both sessions.

Eligibility:

Those who are not currently in education, training or employment and are in receipt of state benefits or support (excluding state retirement pension). those aged 50 plus who are not in full-time employment.
