Cycle Training - Learn to Ride

This course is aimed at children who are unable to ride a bike, aged 4 and 10.
Up to 10 children participate in each Learn to Ride course. 2 trainers assist the parents to enable them to get their children riding

Training is carried out in a traffic free area within Maindy Centre.
Level 1 will be taught and assessed on the Monday using the Road Safety Centre’s road training layout.
This includes:
• checking your bike and your clothing,
• making sure your helmet fits.
• getting on and off the bike,
• starting and stopping safely,
• controlling your bike, and
• be able to control the bike while signalling and looking back

Eligibility: Any child that is unable to ride a bike aged between 4 and 10.

What should I bring to the first lesson?

What should I bring to the first lesson?
A roadworthy bike and helmet. Bikes must be in a roadworthy condition, with two working breaks, inflated tyres and working gears (Where applicable). Please turn up 10-15 minutes early on Day 1 as our coaches can check and make reasonable adjustments to any bicycle.
Water and a small snack for a 5 minute break half way through the session.
Courses run in almost all weather conditions, waterproofs or a change of clothes and sun cream may be needed depending on the time of year. Suitable footwear is also required.
