Course Overview

This course will explore the technical aspects of painting in watercolour with a study of composition, colour, mixing practice and observation. This class focuses on understanding colour and developing skills and approaches to painting, working from subject matter such as still life, natural forms, flowers and landscape. Examples of both contemporary and historical works of art will be discussed to introduce concepts relevant to the class activities.

What should I bring to the first lesson?

Watercolour paper approx. 300gsm weight or Watercolour Pad
Board or cardboard to attach watercolour paper if using paper sheets
Watercolour paints set
Brushes – various sizes
Masking Tape
Pencils H, HB
Eraser
Mixing Palette if not included in set
Water pot

Eligibility:

Those who are not currently in education, training or employment and are in receipt of state benefits or support (excluding state retirement pension). those aged 50 plus who are not in full-time employment.
