Equipment for week 1 – Making a Rose out of fondant to decorate cakes or cupcakes
Apron, tea towel, Silicon mat (table protector)
250g fondant; Tylose(CMC) powder - provided by your tutor; Gel colours – pink or red; green;
Box to carry your decorations (The Rose will be used to decorate a cake in week 2)
Equipment for week 2 – Cover a cake with buttercream & fondant
Apron, tea towel, Silicon mat (table protector)
Palette knife/spatula for spreading the buttercream; Metal buttercream scraper spatula; Rolling pin (to roll the fondant); Fondant cake smoothers; Cake turntable - optional
500g fondant (Tesco/Asda); 6’’ or 8’’ cake filled with filling by your choice; 250-300g buttercream (to cover the cake in class with); 8’’ or 10’’ cake board; 8’’ or 10’’ cake box to transport your cake home; Your fondant rose (made previous week)
Ask tutor for buttercream or/and cake recipes.

Flower paste (Saracino pasta Bouquet; Simply heaven or other brands); Fondant; Modelling paste - white (Saracino); Piping tips N1M & 4B star tips; Small star nozzle as PME N8 or Ateco N24; Coupler for piping bag; Medium size Disposable piping bags; Silicon spatulas for mixing; Leaf/flower cutters; PME flower leaf shaper tool; Modelling instruments; Small rolling pin; Silicon mat; Turntable (Lazy Suzan/TV turntable)..
