Course Overview
This is an Intermediate course for those with a reasonable grounding in French . You may have a rusty GCSE or O level French. Perhaps you have been following a French class for at least 4 years or you have been working on your own using online material and now wish to practise what you have learned in a group situation. The course is designed within the level A2+ of the European Framework.
The class starts with some general conversation about your news or subjects that interest you.You will be able to converse in the present, past and future tenses. The second part of the lesson is based around the Intermediate course book Façon de Parler 2.You will acquire the language necessary to survive in France or French speaking countries. We will discuss activities and holidays in the past, reply to invitations, talk about your area and accommodation, order meals and shop for food. There will be the opportunity to participate in the Cardiff Nantes Exchange. We visit our twin town of Nantes from 17th-24th April 2027 and the French visit Cardiff from 12th-19th June 2027.
The course will develop your listening and speaking skills. You will read authentic material to expand your vocabulary, comprehension and reading skills. The emphasis is on practising your French in a supportive, friendly and relaxed environment. Written homework exercises are set to improve grammatical accuracy. By the end of the course, you will be able to get by in practical situations in France. Whether you are learning in order to keep your brain active, or you are planning a visit to France or a French speaking country or you have just returned and want to expand your knowledge, then this is the course for you.
