Course Overview

In Celebration of Adult Learners week 2026 we are pleased to offer the following course free of charge. -If you have always wanted to have a go at machine sewing, now is your chance! Learn how to use a sewing machine, including threading up and winding a bobbin. Practice using basic stitches. Make your own calico cushion or tote bag and explore decoration techniques such as appliqué and hand embroidery.
Sewing machines and Calico can be provided, or learners are welcome to bring their own machine and choice of cotton fabric. The class will be a small group with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Eligibility:

Those who are not currently in education, training or employment and are in receipt of state benefits or support (excluding state retirement pension). those aged 50 plus who are not in full-time employment.

- To allow us to provide equal opportunities for all eligible learners, please refrain from enrolling on more that three Learning For Work courses at this time. -
