Course Overview

In Celebration of Adult Learners week 2026 we are pleased to offer the following course free of charge.

Discover the luminous art of glass painting, creating your own magical imagery inspired by historic lantern slides. Explore colour, light, and storytelling through translucent design.
This free two-hour session is not just about glass painting but is a taster of a weekly course we hope to run in September run by Barry the tutor also known as the Professor of luminosity who has perhaps one of the largest private collections of magic lantern glass slides and optical equipment in Wales.
It is an absolute one-off opportunity to create your own story/poem or some classic text of the past illustrated using glass paints and eventually perform it as a group using original Victorian magic lantern projectors.

Eligibility:

Those who are not currently in education, training or employment and are in receipt of state benefits or support (excluding state retirement pension). those aged 50 plus who are not in full-time employment.

- To allow us to provide equal opportunities for all eligible learners, please refrain from enrolling on more that three Learning For Work courses at this time. -
